Let’s take a break from the overflowing Goodwood Festival of Speed announcements that we have so far early this week and check out TomTom’s third offerings to map a tropical island, this time Mauritius.
Early June 2012, TomTom launched its Map Paradise Project searching for five families or groups of friends to spend several days on a tropical island and earn 10,000 euros for mapping it. No mapping experience is needed, but you should have great sense of direction and mainly enjoys outdoor exploration. Successful applicants will need to explore Mauritius in a specially equipped mapping car basically used in TomTom’s map-making process.
Fiji and St. Lucia have already been mapped, and the winner for the Fiji Mapping Project is already under reviewed by TomTom judges. There are still three more slated for the mapping competition which Mauritius is on the process of finding new applicants that could be you, after that Cape Verde, and the Seychelles will be mapped soon through same mapping competition.
There’s an overwhelming support TomTom is getting since the The Mapping Project have started. The Fiji mapping competition for example have had thousands of applications, said TomTom’ s managing director Corinne Vigreux. She also added that it will be very difficult task for them to choose the winners and thank everyone who has joined the mapping project.
If you’ve missed St. Lucia and Fiji mapping experience, Virgeux says that the Mauritius is a great opportunity for you to explore.
In time that you’re already decided to join the competition, all you need to do is to fill up a simple form that you can find on TomTom’s Map Paradise Project page.
